Any of my readers that follow me on Twitter already know that my husband and I have big news to share… We’ve added to our family by adopting another dog!
We have been wanting another dog as a sibling for our 2 year old mutt Dexter — see my special post about him — for sometime. I was so so excited when I saw little Andy (formerly Larry) up for adoption at The Humane Society of Huron Valley . Andy was brought to Michigan all the way from Baton Rouge, Louisiana so he could find his special home. I called the adoption centre as soon as they opened and put a hold on Andy since I knew he would go quickly.
Saturday morning we packed up Dexter and headed over to the shelter. Before they would consider adopting Andy to us they had to make sure he got along with Dexter.
The meeting went great! They were both interested in each other and Dex didn’t seem to mind when Andy started biting his tail as if it were his personal chew toy.
Some would say we’re crazy for adopting a dog the week before we move from our apartment to our new house and to that I say “If adopting a dog is crazy, I don’t wanna be sane.”
How could you not love this face?
Our weekend has been a hectic one. Filled with chasing after the two dogs, making sure Andy gets outside in time to do his puppeh business, and working on his crate training. Hopefully soon he’ll love his crate as much as Dexter loves his.
We are soooo excited to have Andy in our family. The next few weeks will be absolutely mental, but we knew that going into the adoption. He already feels like apart of the family and isn’t taking any crap from Dexter, either!
What did you do this Mother’s Day weekend? Adopt any dogs? Remember, always think adoption first :)
