My husband left Tuesday morning for a ten day vacation to the West cost. His family lives in both Oregon and California so he will be visiting both states while I will be left to my own devices here in Michigan. I didn’t make any grand plans for while he is away because I have two insane dogs to take care of.
While Richard is away I plan to enjoy the simple things in life that I don’t always get to do while he’s here looking after me. Things like…
Scratch my mosquito bites until I’m satisfied and/or bleeding.
Eat ridiculous dinners, ex “Ricotta Cheese With a Spoon.”
Leave all the kitchen cupboards open.
Sleep diagonally in our bed.
Watch foreign films with subtitles without having to hear “I’m too tired to read!”
Use the same knife in the jam jar as I did in the peanut butter jar without being condemned.
While I already miss my husband so much (The last time we spent a night apart was over a year ago) the old saying absence makes the heart grow fonder is definitely true. Looking back to the two deployments we survived, it’s so hard to believe we’ve spent a total of TWO YEARS apart. How the hell did I manage back then?!
I hope he has an amazing trip catching up with family and friends but I really, REALLY look forward to him coming home. It’s just not the same here without him.
