Friends, it’s me amberherself! Yes, I am posting more than once in a week – can you believe it? I surely can’t. For the month of November I will be participating in NaBloPoMo, see the details on Blogher. The jist is this: Blog every day for the month of November.
I started this blog as I needed something to focus on. I work a lot of hours at a job I don’t particularly enjoy and thought blogging would be a fun outlet to talk about my interests: books, movies, fashion etc. Unfortunately, I am never inspired to blog. Most days I come home from work too tired to do anything but drink wine and watch trashy reality TV (related: What is up with Kyle Richards this season of RHOBH?).
Day 1 of NaBloPoMo suggested we should blog about why we love to write. Since I blogged about autumn peacing-out yesterday, I will give this a go today. BEHOLD! My first NaBloPoMo post:
I have always considered myself an amazing and profound writer. I distinctly remember attempting the true Great Canadian Novel at age 11. This happened between my “I’m going to be a neurosurgeon” and “I’m going to be a world class detective” stage. I’ve kept a journal all throughout my life and will some times look back on them and laugh at what I was prioritizing at the time (usually the boys I had crushes on, natch). During my teen years I went through a letter-writing phase. Remember those? You used a pen, paper and envelopes. I even bought a wax “A” stamp to seal my letters and make them extra fancy. These days I write to keep my family updated on my life and make my mother laugh. She just loves how I spin a yarn.
Writing is definitely something I enjoy, especially when someone tells me I’ve made them laugh or when my real voice is apparent. I’m hoping that participating in NaBloPoMo will make me excited about writing again and maybe help me gain some new readers.
Wish me luck!
