We had brief flurries today in Michigan and everyone at work was flipping the f*ck OUT. “Whoa! SNOW! Look everyone! Wow! Snow! Amazing!” They went on like that until the flurries stopped =/ While everyone was getting excited for snow I was hanging my head, trying to imagine I was on a beach in Mexico sipping unlimited margaritas.
Since I’m usually such a Debbie Downer when it comes to the miserable time of year that is winter, I thought I’d do an upbeat post about what I actually enjoy about this season.
~Building snowmen. Especially snowmen that deliver messages to friends and family living in more temperate climates.
~Ice Skating. I haven’t donned a pair of figure skates in ages but I grew up skating and have fond memories of time spent at the arena. I’d like to think I haven’t lost my mad-skating skills but chances are if I hit the ice I’d be literally hitting the ice. Ya know, with my ass.
~Roaring fires! We just had our chimney swept (Who knew that was a real thing these days?) and I’m so excited to buy some wood and have Richard build me roaring fires all day, every day.
~Playing with our dogs in the snow. This will be Andy’s first year experiencing snow and I am completely ready to laugh my ass off at how he reacts. I think he will meet snow with a sense of confusion and excitement. I’ll be sure to post a picture when it happens!
~ Presents at Christmas! I love how I just posted about being unsure whether I wanted to buy a Christmas Tree but have absolutely no qualms about accepting Christmas presents. I’m just a complicated gal who loves gifts, what can I say?
~Wearing slouchy beanies! Because if you wear slouchy beanies in warm weather you just look like an asshole. Yeah, I said it.
What are your favourite things about winter? And you can’t say going to Mexico for spring break, that doesn’t count!
