I cooked dinner twice this weekend. I know what you’re thinking, “Wow, how did you manage to do that?” It actually wasn’t too bad. I went to the store (see yesterday’s post!) and bought the ingredients and made a promise to myself that I’d actually go through with it. I had two relatively easy recipes picked out which helped. Saturday night I made Bell Pepper Risotto with Fontina Cheese and tonight I made Nigella Lawson’s recipe for pasta with lemon, thyme and cremini mushrooms.
It’s not that I don’t enjoy cooking, I just happen to have a husband that will cook for me without too much complaining. Growing up my mother and father would share the cooking responsibilities but my dad enjoyed it more and still tries to “get gourmet” so to speak… So… what I’m getting at here is it’s not my fault I let my husband do all the cooking, right?!
Blogging every day has given me something to focus on and I like how I only had to stick to this for 30 days. After my little blogging experiment ends I think I will keep trying to post more often since I’ve put myself in the routine of doing so. I’m going to try to do the same with cooking : )
Don’t be thinking I’m going to cook dinner every night for 30 days now, that’d be in-SAHN. I think I’ll start small, maybe one or two dinners during the week and then do all of the cooking on the weekends. I hope after this little challenge cooking won’t feel like such a chore and I can start being a real wife to my husband and share that responsibility. Plus, I do have another blog devoted to vegetarian cooking but since I have become such a lazy cook I never have material for it.
How often do you cook at home and what are your favourite recipes?
