Happy New Year, dear readers! I hope everyone had a fruitful year – 2011 was a very eventful year for me, not all of it good but not all of it bad either. Some of my favourite moments from 2011 include…
~ Adopting our second dog, a yellow lab/mix who we named Andy. He is such a sweet dog and gives my husband and I so much happiness. With 2 dogs our household can be kind of crazy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
~ Buying our first home. Being a homeowner is challenging (we still haven’t painted more than one room!) but it’s so much better than apartment living!
~ Finding out my sister in law is pregnant! I am so happy for my SIL Shamara – check out her blog at The Refresh Project – she is going to be an amazing mother and her husband Derek will be the best dad. I couldn’t be happier for her and hope to make it out to Oregon for the birth of her baby boy.
~ Completing NaBloPoMo. I posted one blog for every day in November – for me this is a feat! What’s amazing is after I finished NaBloPoMo I didn’t blog once in December. I think I was all blogged out, actually.
For 2012 I am looking forward to making a lot of positive changes in my life. For 2011 my only goal was to read 100 books and I failed : ( I read a total of 29, which is a lot compared to what some people manage to read but I wish I had come closer to my goal. This year I plan to make smaller, more attainable goals that will be easier to reach and help me feel accomplished.
My 2012 Goals Include:
~ Read 50 books. If I got to 29 this year I feel like 50 is a good goal for 2012. My first book of 2012 will be Simon Pegg’s Autobiography “Nerd Do Well.”
~ Start Graduate School. When I wrote my “10 Before Age 30” goal list one of them was to start graduate school to obtain a Masters in Public Relations. I’ve since decided that I want to pursue a Masters of Public Administration, specializing in Non-Profit Management. I’m already in the process of getting my application ready, so I’m already on the right track to a new career!
~ Decorate my home. My husband and I have been slow to start decorating our home. I’d really like to tackle one room at a time and get some style into our darling Cape Cod. Decorating can be expensive though so this goal will most likely take me the whole year as we have to save up to do it.
~ Use my camera more! I bought a Canon DSLR a while back but still haven’t gotten around to learning how to use it. My husband bought me new lense for Christmas so I think it’s time I stop lollygagging and put my camera to work. To help me achieve this goal I’m going to follow in the footsteps of my friend Aparna and do “Project 52” – taking one photo each week of 2012. I will post my picture on Friday each week, so make sure you check back here to see if I’m following through!
~ Blog more! While I definitely can’t blog every day, I really want to set up a blogging schedule that keeps me on track.
I hope everyone has an amazing 2012 but want I really want to know is – Are you making any resolutions?
